Slow Summer No. 02 — Beauty Waiting to Be Noticed

I think this is part of what has always drawn me to feathers. They are easy to overlook. They don't announce themselves or ask to be noticed, and when finally discovered, they are a special gift.

I find them as they are—sometimes soft and nearly perfect, other times worn, broken or changed by whatever came before—much like we are shaped by our own seasons in life I don't decide what I want them to become before I photograph them. I spend time with what I've found and allow the feather to lead me.

There is something reassuring in that for me. Beauty doesn't always arrive polished or demanding our attention. Sometimes it is simply there, quietly waiting for us to notice. ~ Brenna
